Director of Gift Planning – Mountain Region

Mission: To inspire and facilitate charitable giving for the long-term benefit of our donors and the Church.
Reports to: CEO/President
Direct Reports: None
Schedule: Full-time exempt position (part-time is an option)
Primary purpose of this Position: To secure planned gifts
Location: Mountain location within the Archdiocese of Denver

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, cultivates, and stewards donors for soliciting and securing planned gifts
  • Manages a portfolio of planned giving prospects
  • Assumes personal responsibility for relationships with a designated number of donors, undertaking direct individual donor solicitations as appropriate
  • Develops relationships with Professional Advisors, Pastors, Parish business managers, other Archdiocese and Catholic ministry development directors
  • Introduces donors to Donor-Advised Funds at the Foundation
  • Attends meetings, special events, private dinners, major fund-raisers, and donor recognition banquets
  • Writes correspondence, case statements, gift proposals, and thank you notes
  • Provides input to database records and files, to track donor and gift information
  • Produces regular reports on impact of planned giving efforts
  • Meet mutually agreed upon goals — aim towards 4 meetings per week
  • Some travel to Denver

Qualifications:

  • Is articulate in the Catholic Faith and in good standing with the Church
  • Demonstrated experience in fund-raising and donor stewardship
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, customer service excellence
  • Is a self-starter and can work independently and collaboratively; hard worker with high energy; a “doer” with a willingness to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of development and advancement activities
  • Has a knowledge of technical, legal, and financial requirements associated with Planned Giving
  • Fosters the highest level of confidentiality, ethics, integrity and professional demeanor

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three years of experience in some form of revenue generation

Education and/or Experience Desired:

  • Law degree, experience with trusts, or legal or financial management experience
  • Non-profit based experience
  • Fund-raising and donor stewardship experience

Colorado based salary range $80,000 – $120,000 with actual salary offered dependent upon skill and experience. Bonus eligible.
